On 3 December 2019, "Lunch and Learn" at BCD Meetings & Events
The Lyon Convention Bureau and GL Events Lyon (Lyon for Events) attended a “Lunch and Learn” session in the offices of BCD Meetings & Events - the number 1 events agency on the British market - in Derby (Midlands), to deliver a presentation about the destination and its venues which can host major international events.
BCD's portfolio of clients includes leading international groups in all sectors, which organise events of all sizes all over the world.
It also provided an opportunity to share a few Lyon specialities with the BCD team.
The following day, Blanche from the LCB and Ariane from LFE played "Mother Christmas", travelling around London to leave a few souvenirs of Lyon in a dozen British events agencies, with a view to deepening and nurturing their relationships. A British tradition, these "Christmas drops" enabled them to develop customer loyalty, pass on information about their destination, wish everyone at the agency all the best for the festive season and enjoy their company.
The British events agencies visited during the Xmas Drops in London are among the top 50 in the C&IT (Conference and Incentive Travel) ranking:
- The Creative Engagement Group
- Principal
- Smyle
- First
- Clive
- Clarion events
- Knect365
- WBR
- TFI
- IQPC

On 10 December 2019, Lyon was THE destination representing France.
The "Destinations Alliance" organisation in London, formerly "the Oysters", brings together countries which share the common objective of promoting their business offering (through Atout France UK in the case of France) on the British MICE market.
They work together to organise events, such as this annual lunch, which target international organisations.
Around twenty destinations were represented, including France. Only one partner per country was invited. So Lyon was the only French partner present.
23 international organisations attended the event.
So it provided a great opportunity to promote Lyon, strengthen existing relationships with some of these organisations, get to know potential new customers and expand the city's network of British organisations.
Lunch was followed by a speech by Bert van Loon (independent strategic consulting firm), who explained how methods of communication have changed and how we can tailor them, with messages targeted at the events industry.
