The Japanese travel agent WAS will be operating a charter flight to Lyon in the spring of 2020

A new destination for this major Japanese tour operator, which specialises in high-end travel for a largely retired clientèle!

Looking for new packages to offer in France, Mr. Matsumoto, the President of World Air-Sea Service, was welcomed to Lyon and the surrounding region on 13th May 2019.

A working lunch was organised, with Blandine Thenet (OnlyLyon Tourism and Conventions’ Promotions Director), Christian Douchement (Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Tourism’s Head of Promotion), Laurent Cormier (Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Tourism’s Deputy Promotion Manager for International Attractiveness and Development) and Pierre Grosmaire (Commercial and Marketing Director of Aéroports de Lyon).

Mr. Matsumoto was impressed by the wide range of possibilities offered by the city and its rich historic and culinary heritage.

As a result, the travel agent will be operating a charter flight for around 300 tourists in the spring of 2020. On arrival, the visitors will be divided between ten or so different sightseeing programmes, primarily in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, and will all spend 1 or 2 nights in Lyon exploring the city.

This fantastic news is the result of a collective effort with Atout-France Japan, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Tourism and our Lyon-based partners.
