On the occasion of the 2016 edition of the International Conference for Tropical Medicine and Malaria (ICTMM) held in September 2016 in Brisbane in Australia, Sébastien Bret, in charge of development, presented Lyon's pre-candidacy to host the convention in 2024, supported by the French Society of Tropical Pathology, and patronized by Professor Stéphane Picot, who works for the Croix-Rousse Hospital in Lyon.
In June, the Lyon Convention Bureau welcomed the ICTMM President and the President of the French Society of Exotic Pathology to the city.
Following a successful site inspection, it was decided to organize an event at this year’s congress in Brisbane in order to emphasize the city’s bid which will be placed in 2020.
Should Lyon be successful in its bid to host the congress, the event will gather 3000 people from 11 to 15 September 2024
