The start of the autumn has brought some excellent news; Lyon has been included in the CNT Reader’s Choice Best Cities in the World rankings for the first time. The city came in second in the list of the best big cities in the world, after Kyoto and ahead of Singapore, Sydney, Tokyo and Helsinki, and came 5th in the world across all categories.

Condé Nast Traveler announced the results of its annual Reader’s Choice Awards a couple of weeks ago. It brings great satisfaction to the people of Lyon, those who love Lyon and everyone who works on a daily basis towards promoting the city.

More than 715,000 Condé Nast Traveler readers submitted an incredible number of responses, rating their travel experiences across the globe. “The results of this year’s survey, conducted at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, are a testament to the lasting power of a meaningful travel experience”, said Jesse Ashlock, U.S. Editor-in-chief of CNT. “The winners represent the best of the best for our audience and offer plenty of trip-planning inspiration for all the adventures we can’t wait to have next.”

The Condé Nast Traveler Readers' Choice Awards are the longest-running and most prestigious recognition of excellence in the travel industry. “Recognition from a famous magazine read across the world, and especially from its readers, means so much to us!“ said François Gaillard, CEO of the Greater Lyon Tourist Office. “In this troubled time for the world of tourism, this good news brings us joy and satisfaction, and strengthens our drive to fly the flag ever higher for Lyon.”
