The ICCA (International Congress and Convention Association) ranking has just been published. As a very eagerly awaited event in the Business Tourism sector, the list of winners for 2017 is made up of leading destinations hosting international association meetings at regional and global levels.

Lyon has gained 12 places in 2017, putting it among the top 30 most successful European destinations, and has maintained its second position at national level. Lyon is now far ahead of Marseille (80th in the world ranking), and 3rd among French winners, with 43 congresses organised in 2017 compared to 33 in Marseille. At world level, Lyon ranks 58th ahead of cities such as Dubai, Brisbane and Los Angeles

A result that François Gaillard, CEO of the ONLYLYON Tourist Office & Convention Bureau, is very proud of, as it confirms that 'the combined efforts of main actors in the sector, such as the ONLYLYON Tourist Office & Convention Bureau and the GL Events group, contribute to Lyon's world famous dynamics.'

This dynamic trend is further reinforced by the support of local tourist providers, and the increasing involvement of project promotors, such as professors, scientists and doctors.

58th place at world level + 12 places / Lyon is in front of Dubai, Brisbane and Los Angeles.

30ht place at European level + 5 places / Lyon is ahead of cities like Geneva or Moscow.

2nd place at national level / Lyon is behind Paris, but in front of Marseille, Toulouse, Nice and Bordeaux.

In 2018, this destination hopes to confirm these great results by hosting a wide range of events, such as the French Paediatric Society congress or JEWC - Junior Enterprise World Conference.
