Terminal 1: delivery of stage B
A new esplanade, a new and centralised bus station, and a new baggage reclaim area…
Terminal 1 continues to expand to provide customers with a seamless and comfortable experience, with the penultimate stage of the project being delivered in June 2018.
Having been progressively put into operation since April 2017, Terminal 1 is now opening up three new spaces to travellers: a 10.000 square meter outdoor esplanade located at the entrance of the terminal, a centralised bus station (serving 35 cities thanks to Ouibus and Flixbus) and a baggage reclaim area for long-haul flights. It also boasts 25 new check-in desks.
This 70.000 square meter terminal, which was inaugurated in October 2018, has doubled the surface of the airport, the idea being, of course, to meet the needs of growing traffic, and improve the quality of services by providing the very best international standards for the benefit of travellers and airline companies alike. Lyon Saint-Exupéry crossed the symbolic threshold of 10 million passengers in 2017.
New this winter (between October 2018 and March 2019)
- will be operating 4 flights/day to Amsterdam (3 at present).
- Iberia Express will be operating 7 flights/week to Madrid (4 at present).
- Turkish Airlines will be operating 2 additional flights/week to Istanbul this winter, for a total of 14 flights/week (12 at present) to its hub.
- Aigle Azur operates 2 daily flights between Lyon and Nantes; that is 12 flights/week, all year round.
These increases in capacity are an excellent omen for Lyon's airport. They boost offers to leading hubs (Amsterdam, Madrid and Istanbul) and therefore our access to and from international destinations.
